We arrived there on time and the ticket was just €1.8 each. It took 20mins to go to the south and it stopped at the Akrotiri Archaeological museum. And EU student again was free to enter!! The normal price was €3, which was a bit expensive. There was a big monument inside the museum. I thought it was outside. Then, we saw many of the remains of the old buildings like water pipe, lady houses, storeroom etc.
We spent almost 1 hour there as we had very enough time today.
After the museum, we walked to the red beach which took 15mins. We saw many red rocks on our way and there were churches nearby but we could not get inside.
There was a sign saying that reminding people of danger from any falling rocks. But we ignored it and continued to walk. The view was very amazing.
The sea wave, red rocks, clear sky and blue sea were very beautiful. We walked down a bit to go to the beach.
There was no sands on the beach but some tiny red rocks mixed with seaweed I guess and the texture was really soft. I had never stepped on such things on the beach. Some part of the wave was quit black and muddy. But we went further inside, it was much cleaner.
We saw people sunbathing and some swimming on the beach. There were red doors on the slope but could not open it. We spent around 15mins on the beach and took some pictures. Then, we walked back to the bus termnial first. We wanted to go to the light house which the southest part of Akrotiri. But it was quite far away and the waiter at the restaurant told us it took one hour just to go. Now is 1520 and We needed to take the bus here at 1720 to get back to Thira to buy sourvenirs. If we went to the light house, we would probably miss the bus.
We then decided not to go there and waited for the bus. But the thing was at that time since we were not going to the light house and I suddenly realized I did not take poloraid at the red beach and I really wanted to have one, I hesitated about whether I should run back to the red beach to take one and then came back on time to take the bus. I got only 20mins left but we had spent 15mins to walk from the beach to the bus stop. I decided to take risk and I ran back alone back to the red beach. I left my belongings to them and ran back just with my polaroid.
I ran back to the beach with no stops in 8mins. I quickly asked an Asian Guy to take one. Then, I ran back again to bus stop in 10mins. I really made it. The bus had not yet come!! I sweated and breathed quickly. I was so happy I made it. We took the bus back to Fira centre.
We then went inside different sourvenir shops to check which one got the best price. Santi bought some magnet and I bought another sourvenirs. Initally I wanted to buy a blue and white church model to my dear teacher who will got married this month but the religion in Greece was Orthodox but my teacher was Christian. So, I decided not to buy here. Maybe buy one in Paris where was the city of love. After that, we went back to take rest and at 2100, we went out to eat Gyro for dinner and then came back to sleep.
