12/04 Jungfrau, Switzerland

Snow mountains!  we woke up very early at 0500 to take the train to the Interlaken via Bern.  However, on the train, when the ticket officer checked our ticket, he said our ticket was only from Zurich to Milano, not from Zürich to interlaken. But the journey summary said there were stopovers between Zurich to Milano but he said the ticket we showed was only that journey and we did not buy any ticket for this journey and other journey. Wtf.  I paid €70 for Zurich to Interlaken....I was quite angry. and then I went ask the ticket officer on the train from bern to interlaken and he understands what my question was but he seemed couldn't answer my question. When we were going from bern to interlaken, we saw two big lakes which were located together.  That's why the station in between was called Interlaken.

We then went to train info centre and ask the staff and he just kept saying my ticket was only for Zurich to Milano. Wtf!  Why we could insert many stopovers on the ticket website and could even select seat prefernece for each journey and there was a timetable for each stop on the travel detail attached with the E-ticket sent via email and now you said it was only valid for the last journey and it was impossible to have so many stopovers? Come on. If not, how could I add those stopover on the internet? That was the your online system fault. I was really angry about it. No matter how it ends finally, the only thing we could do now was to buy tickets from interlaken to bern and bern to Zürich which was unexpectedly expensive. They costed €140 and they were just a less- than-3 hours journey., which "hurted" me a lot. We often grumbled but... Life must go on.

Then we go to the hostel and leave our luggages there first. We brought some superwarm for us to keep warm on the Jungfrau.

On our way, we saw a lot of Chinese and Korean and in our hotel, when we were sitting to eat some snacks, a girl came in. She was from HKUST. She was alone in her trip and she wanted to join us. Why not! We went to the station to buy the train station. Luckily our coupon was still valid because this coupon was taken last year from Tommy's friend and the words on it were all in Korean. So we paid €120 for each.

The train went to Lauterbrunnen first. The view was beautiful. The mountains were full of green trees like a forest, some small houses were located on a large piece of green land with some flowers on it, snow water flew slowly downstream. Amazing!!! We then went to Kleine Scheidegg which was 2061m. The view was so magnificent!!!!! We can saw the Jungfrau here. The mountain was fully covered by snow. We saw some slpeople play skiing and snowboard there l. I really wanted to ski there. There was also a railway stretching towards the top of the mountain.

Then, we took the train to Jungfrau!!!!!  On our way, we chatted with a Korean who now worked for deaf people in UN in Geneva and he said he liked Chinese food a lot and I also said I missed some Korean food.

After almost 2 hours train, we finally arrived at Jungfrau which was 3454m and was named the Top of Europe because this was the most highest train station in Europe. In Jungfrau there were several things to do here.

First, we validate our passport first lol.  Then, we started our self-tour here. First, we got into a lift, which too us to the Sphinx which was a vantage terrace.

This place was quite high but unluckily, when we got out, we could only see the white frogs surrounding the terrace. But luckily, there was snowfall! And the snow was quite large!! This was the first to see such large snowfall. I went to a area where there was a strong freezing wind blowing up to the top and I standed on that area for 1mins and it was fucking cold and I got a lot of snow on my hair, eyebrows Hanaha.

Cold but interesting!  When I tried to take Polaroid pictures but it runs out of battery finally...  I thought it was fine because that area was really bright with white fogs surrounded. The quality would not be much good I thought. We then walked to another tour which was Alpine sensation. It was about how the people developed railway to Jungfrau and built the Top of Europe station in the past.

Then, we went to Aletsch Glacier. We stepped on the snow and it was all white.

The wind was fucking freezing and strong. I tried to make a snowman. I tore the package of my biscuit off to make his hands. My hands were full of snow and my hands were extremely cold and felt numb. I just quickly made his head and body and put the paper on his head for his eyes and on his body for his hands.  Right afterthat, i rushed to the toilet to warm my hands with the warming machine and my hands started to feel something....

We then walked to the ice palance where we found some ice sxrupltures like bears, pigeons inside it. Intially I didnt think it was made of ice but later I put my hands on the icewall for 10mins and I could feel the melted water. We wandered there for some time.

Then we went to the plateau, which was even more fucking cold and the wind was more freezing!  We barely stand tight on the snow. I need to hold a woodstick nearby to stabilize my body and take photos. The wind kept pushing me and the snow kept hitting my face and body and I felt the enormous power of nature!!

We then left and plateau and saw a plague saying that China Yellow mountain become a partner of Switzerland Jungfrau-.- Why.. They were totally different. Then we went to buy some postcards and me and Tommy got a free cup noodle each which was included in our tickets. The original price was €7. Eating hot spicy cup noodle on Jungfrau was really awesome!  Because the Jungfrau panorama was closed, we took the downhill train.

On our the view was excellent and we chose Grindxxx to go downhill and the scenery was also beautiful.  I really like this Jungfrau trip.

After going back to Interlaken, we went to supermarket to buy sth for dinner. Most of the things were quite expensive and we just chose a bag of pasta and a bottle of ketschup. We could use these ketschup for tmr or even ltaly too LOL. We heat the pasta with water in a microwave and put some curry powder provided in the hostel.  It tasted good. We said our last goodbye to Kelly and got back to our room to sleep.
