03/05 Berlin, Germany

We again woke up very early to go register the tower in the Parliament. Before that, we went to lidl to buy food for dinner as it closed on sunday. We got there at 1030. We lined up for almost 2hours to get a free admission there.

Luckily, today was very sunny and warmer than yesterday. We did not trumble when we were waiting. We went through the security check and I was afraid that my film would got ruined by the X-ray.

The staff gathered a group of people and led us inside the Parliament. We got inside a big lift. Once we got up, we were really surprised by the architecture, design and the size of the dorm. We each got an English audio guide. Before getting into the dorm, we circled around the dorm.

We could see the view from each side of the parliament. We coukd see the tiergarden, victory column, TV tower, Berliner domain etc. The view was nice but was not breathtaking. We took some nice picture here and I took a Polaroid photo, which was very good!! We circled it once and then went inside.

The inside was very modern and geometrical. There was a big upside-down cone made of many pieces of glasses in the centre. Around the centre.,  there was a circular information board surrounding the cone. We saw many old photos about the past Parliament and saw a picture of Einstein siitting in the parliament. I also learnt that Bonn was the former west germany capital from 1949 till 1990. We then went up along the circular corridor towards the top and saw 360° view of Berlin centre.

Few minutes later, we arrived at the top and we could see the open roof clearly which was very modern.

We then got down and took the same lift down to the ground. Then, we walked to Stasi museum which was about the secret police in East Germany.

We learnt really a lot about how the police formed and what they did and the subsequent effect to people's life, which was very interesting. We spent around 1 hour there and then went to Gendarmenmarkt.

We saw two churches there and a government, the buildings of which were very nice. We then went to Ritter sport nearby to buy sourvenirs !!!! We bought many packs of chocolate of different flavors and some special chocolate, total of which was not very expensive. We then walked back to hostel with much happiness. Before that, we went to lidl again to buy food for tomorrow.

After putting things in the room, we ate out tonight. We took the U- Hahn to go to museum island. We found a decent typical German restaurant and it was not very expensive.

The atmosphere was very good and there was a guy singing in the restaurant, which was very good. We ordered Berliner pork knuckle and 2 Fried sausages! !

They were very delicious !!! I love port knuckle!!! We also ordered two Berliner weiße with syrup of red and green each.

Both tasted interesting and very good. It tasted like some fruit punch and not had much alcohol and overall I really like Berliner weiße. We had a very delicious meal at that restaurant and we just paid €13 each, which I thought was reasonable. We walked back to U- bank station and took subway back to hostel. As we needed to change room for the remaining nights, we had to check in again. There were 4 girls from spain in our room and they had some pre-drink party there which was quite noisy. But they were nice and friendly. I was fine with them. After, we finished shower, they went out to drink and theb we slept right after they left.
