19/04 Rome, Italy

We woke up early to take pictures of Riomaggiero at the pier. It was rainning outside, which obviously not a good news to us.

We walked under the rain to the end of the pier and took pictures of its whole view, which could be more beautiful under a clear sky. We then went back to the hostel and the pizza shop still not yet opened. We got our things to the train station and took a train to our last detonation in Italy Rome.

Around 3pm, We went to the hostel which was not very far away from the central station. We checked in. The hostel was fine and we could switch on the fire at the kictchen. We then put our things there and went out.

First, we went to the Colosseo as it was the nearest attraction to our hostel. The combination ticket costed €12, including the Coloseeo, Rome Forum and Palentine hill. There was a long quene. We tried to ask for reduced price as we were living in Germany but in no avail.

We went to the podium floor first. The Colosseo was colossal.

The walls were brown-to-red color, looked very old. But most of them were already destroyed many years ago by fire and civil stifle. The remains were still well preserved so that I could imagine how it was like centuries ago. There were many broken statue and marbles left between walls. We circled the podium once and saw there was an arena in the middle, under which was the place where the competitors fought against the animals.

That place was not just a open space but with many different kinds of blocks and walls. They may not notice there were animals next to them. Then. We went upstairs and there was a museum on that floor about the development of Rome's literature and library.

Many human statues, some paper rolls,  library pitcures were displayed there.  We spent around 20mins there and afterthat went outside to see the inside of Colosseo again.

The view here was more beautiful and we could even look the bottom area more clearly. We found some inofrmation boards that told us that the losing competitiors could be granted for mercy from the emperor and the winning one could be the guardian of the emperor and become very famous. The Arch of Constantino was being repaired, which was disappointing

Then, we went to Baths of Caracalla where i believed the former emperors took their bath. Since it was almost 1830, It was already closed. Then, we crossed the street to Circus Maximus which was a Open monument but it was being repaired, which was a bit sad.

We went to a supermarket called Despar in the city centre. Before going to supermarket, we went ti the mouth of true which was a fountain and went to church nearby.

On our way to supermarket/, we saw some attractions at night, some of which we did not know what it was because we had not gone there yet.  It was quite far to walk from the hostel to the city centre. Despar was a bit expensive but we hot no choice. We just bought one bag of cheese for dinner.

When we went back, we passed throught the Pantheon, which was like the Greek archeciture and was beautiful.

However, it started to rain and the rain was getting really stronger and heavier. We did not have any umbrellas. We rushed back to the hostel and all of our clothes, jeans and shoes were wet. We cooked pasta with cheese only at the kitchen and went to sleep afterthat.
