Today's tour lasted for 12hours, which was quite long as we would go to southeast coast of Iceland and Reykjavik was in southwest. Most of the time would be spent in transportation. The bus first brought us to skögar waterfall first.
I went to the top of the waterfall and saw the river water flowing downstream, which was really amazing. I could see the wave and water falling down.
In 30mins, I rushed back to the coach in case being left behind again. As it was already 1130. The coach brought us to a intermediate stop where people could have their lunch. Of course I did not go inside to have lunch. I would rather take good pictures.
Hahana. So cool! Then, around 1230, we got on the coach and headed to the ice glacier!!!! On the way, there were many small streams flowing, some houses located at the bottom of mountains, some horses and sheeps eating grasses, vegetation ground, volcanic rocks etc.
Then I saw ice glacier!!! I was so excited to see it. After unknown time, we arrived at ice glacier,. Wowowoo. Fantastically beautiful.
I saw many Seagull flying over some broken glacier. When I got off the coach, I rushed towards the glacier. Omg, ice glacier was just right in front of me. The ice was really beautiful.
After few minutes, we got on a boat. We put on safety clothes. And Headed to the glacier! !!! OMG. I was so closed to the glacier. I could not believe I was at the glacier. Glacier was just around us. The view was unbelievably breathtaking.
A woman told us some history of this glacier. This glacier are now retreating 100m per year because of the sea salt and global warming. In the past, the edge of the glacier was at where our coach stopped. OMG, it lost a huge amount of area.The black things on the ice surface were the ashes from the volcanoes.
Then, a guard coming with a boat gave her a big ice from the glacier. I held it which was quit heavy. Later, she cut part of the ice and gave us to eat the ice. The ice was so fresh and tasty, though just water. But to me, ice from glacier is specially tasty hahhh.
We spent around 30mins in the glacier. Then, we landed and I went uphill to see the glacier, which was amazing. I imagined how the glacier looks like in my mind. I wont forget this incredibly wonderful glacier tour. This was my first time to see ice glacier. I was so touched to see how beautiful nature is.
I walked towards the coach and looked at the glacier one more and said goodbye to this beautiful thing in Iceland. Then, we headed to a town called Vik. As it was rainy outside, people chose to stay indoor and have something to eat. But I am here to explore Iceland but not to eat. I took out my umbrella and headed towards a beach. The path was quite muddy. The beach was filled with black sands and rocks.
but it was like raining behind the waterfall LOL. But it was a nice and special experience to walk behind the waterfall! Around 8 I guess, we headed back to Reykjavik. Aorund 2200, we arrived at Reykjavik, as i still havent seen the city centre. I chose to walked around the centre.
Then i walked back to my hostel and ended all my teip in iceland.
It was such a unforgettable tour in Iceland. I explored different beautiful natural landscapes in Iceland which was also my purpose to come here. Last Jan, I saw a movie called secret of Mitty, part of which was filmed in Iceland and the scene was beautiful. I had a thought that shy not go to Iceland during my exchange. Finally I made it and I was so proud of myself that I really did that. I wont forget any moment in Iceland. Iceland I love you.
