I woke up at 8am. I packed my stuff, cooked the pasta left for breakfast and then left hostel at 0915. I went to a restaurant to buy some bread to eat. Then I wanted to go to the market to buy coco juice but I did have enough to do it as I needed to take aerobus at 0950 to the airport. Luckily I could get on the bus to T1. I did not line up for check in as I did the self-check in at the automachine. After getting the boarding pass, I sent my postcard. Luckily everything was smooth and I could get to the boarding gate on time. I took Vueling airline to Morocco!!!! The flight service was fine and I though the flight just took 1hour 15mins but it took 2 hours.
The airport was quite small. Because santi's flight was the one followed by mine and there was only one arrival gate, I decided to wait for him at the gate. I have waited for 1 hours after its arrival time but still could not see him. Then i decided to go to find the histel alone. I went to the info centre to ask how I could get to the centre. The girls in the info centre were really nice. One of them even shared wifi to me so that I could Google map the hostel. Then I changed €80 into Dirham and took bus to the center. The airport was not far away from the centre.
I got off. Omg. It was totally different from Europe. The surrounding was really like countries in middle east.
They have many Muslin buildings, many booths selling fruit juice, people wearing typical clothes saying free pictures, playing musics for snakes in the main square. People touting me to buy juice, paintings, clothes, you name it. Taxi kept beeping to ask you if u need taxi. Many harassment for tourists!! I started to find my way to the hostel. I opened GPS to get to the red spot on the map. I passed many narrow streets, many people kept looking at me, seemed trying to steal my things. Many people asked me if I was from Japan. Many people asked me if I needed direction. I said no to all of them. I was so scared to walk alone along the street as I did not know any French, Spanish, Arabian and people kept harassing me, saying 'excuse me, where u from, do u want to buy sth..' to me. I was so helpless as I did not know who I can trust. I followed the GPS and finally got the to red spot. There was no any hostel. A guy carrying a watermelon told me my hostel was not here but in another place. I trusted him as he looked nice and followed him but he was leading me to the main square, where I came from. At some point, I did not trust him and tried to leave him. I saw a policeman and he said my hostel was in that direction. At some point, I even thought he was having any conspiracy with that policeman to lead me to somewhere and then robbed me! Then I continued to follow him and finally got there safe and sound!!! Then, he asked me for 15dh but I said just 10dh. He headed me a 10dh coin and i took it and gave 20dh to him. I said took it or not. He took it but was mad and said I would go to prison LOL. I asked the reception if Santiago Hamelau came and unfortunately not. Then, I waited at the reception and charged the phone. I waited till 5 and I did not want to waste any time here. Then, I decided to go outside to go sightseeing alone.
I went through the alley and tried to remember the way back. Many people kept staring at me and harassing me again, which made me uncomfortable. I got out to the square and headed to a mosque nearby. The mosque was really Muslim. The structure and the designs were very special. Behind it were a small park and some really short columns standing and I asked tourists to take some photos here.
Then, I walked to another mosque.
I took off my flipflops and stepped on the blanket. In few seconds a Guy came and asked me to leave. Another nice Guy said I could stand at the door and took photos but he insisted on kicking me out. Then, I got out and he said I needed to wear the white gourmet and said you were Muslim then you could go inside. Then, he led me to a shop that I think is owned by his friend. He showed me the white garment and of course wanted me to buy it. But I said no. I went out. I thought they would shout the door and kept me there and asked me to buy something but it thankfully did not happen.
Then, I went back to the main square and bought a bread with some fish inside which was fine.
I just ate 3pieces of biscuit today. I bought a bottle of orange juice which was just 8dh and it tasted good. I walked back to hostel to see if santi was here. I was sitting at the bench taking a rest. I was thinking if he did not take the plane or misseed the flight and I was going to be alone these coming days in Morocco which was very sad and challenging to me. And we could not meet him again. I was really sad to think about this. But, few minutes later, I heard somebody shout my name and I looked around. Oh!!!! he was here. I felt so grateful and I started to cry. Finally he was here and I was not gonna be alone!! I was so scared without any accompany here in Morocco. We hugged each other and then checked in.
The hostel was really big. It even had a swimming pool inside which was so cool. The room was fine. Then we two went out to have dinner in the square. On our way, he told me the whole story which was that his dad bought a ticket from Madrid to Marrakesh on 1june which was obviously wrong. That's why I got a message from him that he had problem with his flight. Then, he said he bought another flight ticket right at the airport which was €200 which was very expensive. So he took a flight from Madrid to Casablanca first and then from there to Marrakesh and arrived at 1840. he then took a bus and walked to the hostel and arrived just 5mins before I sat down on the bench. Wow, many unlucky things happened on him.
But finally we could meet each other!! we ordered couscous with chicken and shrimps, which were really nice.
The places were also cool and were filled with a lot of people. We then walked around the square and went back to the hostel.
