29/03 Cologne, Germany

I woke up at 0930 and had a breakfast in the hostel with a group of people from Ukraine!
They were very nice and we both talked about each other's country. Today, I went to Museum Ludwig first, where exhibited many nice paintings from famous painters and one of them was Picasso and Andy Wollwolf!!

Not only paintings, there was other Installation art. One that impressed me was a door that once u open it, it looks nth inside but actually was an elevator!  I could push to up and down button. Of course the room wouldn't go up or down but it played the upward and downward movement of an elevator, which was very interesting. I saw many paintings and other artwork from Picasso but I did not understand most of his abtract paintings. Say the notes next to the painting say it was about a women but I could not see it was a women. Maybe I got no sense of abtract art LOL. I spend almost 3hours to visit Museum Ludwig and it was worth it.

Then, I went to the bridge which was just next to that museum. There were many love padlock locked on the bridge and this bridge was very nice.

I walked both side of the bridge to see different view of Rhein river. I came to place where I could take pictures of both bridge and the Cathedral but photos taken by others mostly were not the ones I wanted.

Along the promenade, there were many restaurants and people sitting on the grass.

Then, I went back to the Cathedral. This church was giantic and I even needed to knee down to capure it. And I found a hk guy who was willing to take a Polaroid pic which turned out very good!!!

Then I went inside the Cathadral which was extremely Hugh. The ceiling was very high and the area was large. The windows on both sides were large and beautiful. This Cathedral had air-conditioning which was very good for spring and summer. And then I tried to take the lift to the tower in the Cathedral at 1630 but it said last admission was 1630 and each time lasted for 30mins. I thought I could go whenever I want as long as not after 1700 but in fact was not like that and I missed the chance.
Then opposite to the Cathedral was the 4711 perfume store which sold different perfume including the famous Cologne and it was not that expensive but I only got €45 and I still needed to pay the hostel fee for tomorrow.

So I just did windowshopping. But the Cologne has a nice bottles which made it elegant. A
round 6, because tmr is Sunday, which all supermarkets would close. So, I had to go to buy some breads to eat for tmr Düsseldorf. However, I lost my map!! I don't know why!!! And my phone only had 10% battery left but I didnt know where they were. I kept searching for the koln tourists info centre to have a map and ask where the nearest supermarket was. The staff said the map cost €0.5, which I thought not worth it, in addition my limited budget. I didn't buy it and then went to Penny to buy the cheapest bread and a coke which were €1 in total :) And then I went back to hostel to take a little rest for tonight.

Around 7,  I went to the bridge first to take photos of the two sides of Rhine River, which were very nice.

At night, most people walking on the bridge were couples and they standed next to the padlocks and whispered and kissed each other and took selfy photos. OK. Fine. Then I headed to the Koln Triangle, trying to look over the night view of Koln. Because the hostel Guy told me it opened till 10pm. However,  it was already closed when I got there and I found out that it opened till 10pm only from in Summer. WTF,  his info was not updated !!! Nevertheless, I still took a nice picture of myself. And I was so lucky that this photo was taken at 2020 and the lights of the Cathedral turned off at 2030. I am not totally unlucky. I walked back to the Cathedral and said my final goodbye to thus Cathedral and Koln.
