07/06 Salzburg, Austria

Woke up at 0900 and packed my things and checked out.

Practice my german now. Ich kaufe 5 bröt und 1 Fleisch Mineralwasser. I asked a woman, Das ist kein Gas? she said mit Gas.... I chose the other but they were still with gas. And she said chose one that had ohne Gas. And I finally found one and said thanks to her.

I then took the train to Salzburg at 1020 ! It arrived at 1200. First,  I went to tourist info centre to get a free city card. I did not buy the Salzburg card cuz I just tended to go to the castle but not museums here. I walked to the old city by foot. The closer I walked to the brückes, the nicer the view was. The view was really amazing.

I did not expect to such pretty view here. Today's weather was fantastic (Hot) so every picture was beautiful. I crossed the bridge to the old city area.

There were many handcrafted and sourvenir booths along the river bank selling different things like clothes, some music instruments, food, and decorations. I went along the river bank. The view was just amazing. Then, I walked  to the centre and headed towards the castle on top of the hill. I saw mozarts museum and some big churches on my way but i did not go to the museum of mozarts cuz i was not interested in music. Churches there were quite nice.

One of the churches had a kind of festival and there were many lighting effect inside.

Blue, green lights could be seen which was quite unusual for a church to have such lighting. But it gave us another view of churches, not just from the natural light. I bought postcards and stamps on my way. I did not take the cable up to the castle as it costed €11. I chose to walk, which was a bit tiring. I sweated a lot under such strong sunshine. I paid €8 to get inside the castle. The view from the castle was breathtaking.

The castle's building was quite special. The windows were blocked by metal nets, I think, because of war. I saw many Chinese and hk people in the castle.

I wondered around the castle for 45mins and I did not go to any museum inside the castle. Afterthat, I walked downhill back to the centre. There were some booths selling sourvenir at the exit of cable station and I bought a puppet , which was just €3. Because there were some camera spot to take pictures, I went aross the river and walked again a bit uphill.

The view there was nice as I could see churches and the castle. There were only 2-3 people and i did not know why so little. Luckily I found one help me took a Polaroid.

Then, I went back to the old centre to see sites that I had not visited. Then, I went to Billa to buy stuff for tomorrow cuz tmr is Sunday. But it was closed already. I then took a bus to Lidl. Google map told me there was one but I found none when I got there.

Don't trust Google map 100%. Not all info was updated. It was already 1900. I took bus to hauptbahnhof as there was a supermarket inside and luckily it had not closed yet as I expected. I bought lemon tea and some snacks for tomorrow to eat. I then asked a Guy in a book shop to borrow a pen, which was quite embarrassing I thought as they sold pens but I did not buy it but borrow one from them. I then sat on the ground to write postcard.  Then I posted them and have a very little €1 Burger in Burger king and had a rest. Then, I went back to hauptbahnhof and took a train to berchtegaden on 2030.

As I just went to Austria one day. The only impression of Salzburg was that it was like Germany in terms of castle, churhces. But it was also like Bern in Switzerland in terms of brückes and surrounding area. All in all, I had a great time in Salzburg and Salzburg was beautiful. Bye, Austria
